RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA
VISTA ACCEPTING BIDS AND AWARDING CONTRACT FOR THE
CONSTRUCTION OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS, STREET IMPROVEMENTS
AND DRAINAGE FACILITIES AT THE INTERSECTIONS OF
BROADWAY AND H STREET, BROADWAY AND E STREET AND
FOURTH AVENUE AND C STREET - GAS TAX PROJECTS
#132, #136 AND #137
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby
resolve as follows:
WHEREAS, the following five bids were received and opened
at 11:00 a.m. on the 19th day of September, 1972, in the Council
Chambers of the City of Chula Vista for the construction of traffic
signals, street improvements and drainage facilities at the inter-
sections of Broadway and H Street, Broadway and E Street and Fourth
Avenue and C Street:
Perry Electric $165,984.45
Arrow Electric $172,918.10
R. E. Hazard $174,869.15
Griffith Company $177,168.10
Daley Corporation $178,696.25
and
WHEREAS, it has been recommended that said contract be
awarded to the lowest responsible bidder, Perry Electric, who has
assured the City that he is a licensed contractor in the State of
California and can produce an acceptable performance bond.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of
the City of Chula Vista does hereby accept said five bids, and does
hereby award the contract for said traffic signals, street improve-
ments and drainage facilities to Perry Electric to be completed in
accordance with the specifications as approved by the Director of
Public Works of the City of Chula Vista.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the sum of $142,790.18 be, and
the same is hereby authorized to be expended for said project, and
the sum of $33,209.82 be, and the same is hereby appropriated from
the unappropriated surplus of Gas Tax Funds, for said project.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Public Works be,
and he is hereby authorized to approve change orders up to the aggre-
gate sum of $8,275.00, applicable to Gas Tax Projects #132, #136 and
#137, each such order limited to $1,000 or less, and none to affect
the scope of the work.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor of the City of Chula
Vista be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute said
contract for and on behalf of the City of Chula Vista.
