SECOND READING AND ADOPTION ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA AMENDING CHULA VISTA MUNICIPAL CODE SECTION 539.050(G) TO REQUIRE BIENNIAL HEALTH INSPECTIONS OF MOTELS WHEREAS, the Chula Vista Municipal Code requires hotels and motels to annually contract with an environmental health specialist to certify the facilities are in compliance with California Public Health requirements; and WHEREAS, Chula Vista hotel and motel proprietors have requested that the City forego the annual health inspection requirement if hotels and motels have not experienced health probletns iti previous years; and WHEREAS, no hotel or motel has failed its health inspection since the operators began contracting for these inspections in 2007; and WHEREAS, the Chula Vista Municipal Code needs to be amended to reflect this request; and WHEREAS, other than the amendment to Subsections G of Section 539.050, the remainder of Section 5.39.050 will remain the same. NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City Of Chula Vista does, hereby, ordain as follows: SECTION I. That Chula Vista Municipal Code Section 5.39.050(G) be amended to read as follows: 5.39.050 -Permit to operate -Application required -Contents. G. Biennialal inspection report (every other ti°eac beeitmilt~ in 2012), on the form(s) provided by the City, by an environmental health specialist registered with the California Department of Health Services, certifying that the facility is in compliance with California public health requirements. SECTION II. EFFECTIVE DATE. This ordinance will take effect and be in force thirty days after final passage.
