CITY MANAGER RECOMMENDATION: Concur ,~( ~68s Agenda Item No. 10 (Supplemental Page 2) BACKGROUND: (Continued) The City Landscape Planner has prepared plans, specifications and a cost estimate for landscaping and irrigating the animal shelter site. The estimated cost by contract is $12,300. If the City purchases the plant and irrigation materials and City forces, utilizing CET personnel, install the landscaping and irrigation system, the animal shelter site can be landscaped at an estimated cost of $6200. This would represent a savings in cost of approximately $6100. The Parks & Recreation Director has been contacted and indicates that he can do the work. I recommend that we proceed on this basis. I recommend that $71,891 be appropriated from the unappropriated balance of the General Fund to cover the cost of constructing the animal shelter and installation of landscaping and irrigation system;. This was the recommendation of the City Manager at the Council meeting of August 6, 1974.
