HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Statement 1975/02/04 Item 03, AGENDA "TTEM'IVOo [3 ] i CHULA VISTA CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF: February 4, 1975 ITEM TITLE: RESOLUTION: Accepting Comprehensive Employment and Training Act (CETA) Title VI Funds INITIATED BY: City Manager (Acting Director of Personnel) BACKGROUND: Subsequent to the preparation of the status report on CETA Title VI, received by Council prior to its meeting of January 21, 1975, the City has received further updated information on this Title of CETA from the County of San Diego. The City's allocation has been increased from $323,300 to $705,007. The attached agreement, received from the County, authorizes the City of Chula Vista to hire Comprehensive Employment and Training Act (CETA) participants under Title VI of the Act. The attached Occupational Summary (Exhibit "B") reflects those positions to be filled under CETA Title VI. Program funds have been directed primarily to the hiring of labor and trade classifications where unemployment is most extreme at this time. The City's Application for Funding and Budget Estimate is attached as (Exhibit "A") and by reference is incorporated herein. Under Ceta Title VI there is no City matching requirement and a 20% factor for non-personnel expenses"is included as part of the grant. The agreement reflects the period of the grant beginning January 15, 1975 and extending through January 10, 1976. It also designates the City P+lanager as being authorized to administer the agreement in behalf of the City. Approval by Resolution for the acceptance of this agreement is recommended for immediate action.
