ITEM TITLE: Resolution/Authorizing the San Diego County Director of
Public Health to Enforce the Provisions of Ordinance No. 1656
Relating to Food Handlers

ITEM EXPLANATION
The Agreement for Public Health Services between the City and thelCounty
(Res. #1389) makes provisions for County enforcement of certain City
ordinances related to public health. The primary qualification being
that the City ordinance must impose the same regulatory and penal'pro-
visions on incorporated territory within the City as does the rel~ted
County ordinance upon unincorporated territory. j
The recently adopted Food Handler Ordinance (No. 1656) was prepared at
the request of the County so as to be comparable with the related~County
ordinance.
Passage of this resolution will formalize the implied intent of Ordinance
No. 1656 and be in conformity with the provisions of the Agreement for
Public Health Services.
