ITEM TITLE Resolution #8060 :Approving Agreement with the County of San Diego
for the Improvement of Main Street from Fresno Avenue to I-805

ITEM EXPLANATION
This cooperative agreement is for the improvement of Main Street from Fresno
Avenue to I-805, a total distance of approximately 1.70 miles. The length
of improvements within the City is approximately 0.44 miles. The project
basically provides for the widening of Main Street to accommodate 4 lanes of
traffic rather than the present 2 lanes. Most of the expense for con-
struction will be paid for with FAU funds. The remaining portion to be
paid for with City and County funds (25o by the City and 75% by the County).
Necessary right of way will be paid for by the agency which currently has
jurisdiction.
The City Council has previously budgeted funds for right of way acquisition
(see Financial Statement). The agreement provides for the County to perform
all the engineering, contract administration, environmental review, and
inspection. The City is basically only providing funds to pay for its
portion of these costs.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT:
Funds for right of way acquisition have already been approved by the City
Council:
1974-75 budget - $60,000 - Gas Tax Funds
1975-76 budget - $35,000 - Gas Tax Funds

City's share of funds for construction costs are estimated at $49,000.
The resolution approving the agreement with the County includes an
expression of the Council's intent to provide funding for City
participation in the '76-'77 budget.
