[ 5 ] CHULA VISTA CITY COUNCIL MEETING OP: Mdy 27, 1975 ITEM TITLE: Resolution - Establishing Increased Greens Fees for 18 Hole, 9 Hole and Monthly Tickets (Resident/Non-Resident), and Combining All Greens Fees into One Resolution INITIATED BY: Director of Parks and Recreation BACKGROUND: On May 13, 1975, the Parks and Recreation Department, at Council direction, submitted a report on the Chula Vista Municipal Golf Course fee structure. On Thursday, May 15, 1975, the Parks and Recreation Commission considered this report and subsequently forwarded to the Council a letter indicating concurrence with the report, with the exception of the suggested quarterly fee structure. proposed The attached/resolution reflects these changes in the fee structure in italics. Commission-Board Recommendation: As noted above (Parks and Recreation Commission meeting on May 15, 1975) See Exhibit No. 2 Department Head Recommendation: Approval of resolution City Manager Recommendation: Concur E~HI~IT RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHULA VISTA ESTABLISHING GREENS FEES The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby resolve as follows: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Chula Vista that the following fees he, and th e same are hereby established as the standard greens fees for the Chula Vista Municip al Golf Coarse: STANDARD GREENS FEES Number of Greens Fees Rounds Applicable Days/Times/Months Charge 18 Monday through Friday (excluding legal holidays) $3.50 $4.C0 18 Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays $4.50 $5.00 9 Monday through Friday (excluding legal holidays) $2.00 $2.25 9 Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays $2.50 $2.75 18 Monday through Friday (excluding legal holidays) after 4:00 p.m., from May 1 to September 30; after 2:30 p.m. from October 1 to April 30. Said monthly ticket shall entitle the purchaser to play a maximum of 18 holes of golf per day, except that said ticket shall not be valid on Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays as hereinafter defined, provided, however, that said monthly ticket will be honored on Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays after designated times to be set by the management upon the payment of a surcharge of $1.25 $1.50. STUDENT MONTHLY TICKET - RESIDENT The cost of a student monthly ticket is hereby established as $8.00 $10.00. Said monthly ticket shall entitle students as hereinabove defined to p-Tay a maximum of 18 holes per day after the hour of 3:00 p.m., subject to any rules, regulations or restrictions imposed by the management of the Chula Vista Municipal Golf Course. The student monthly ticket will be honored on Saturdays, Sundays and legal holidays, after designated times to be set by the management upon the payment of a surcharge of Fifty Cents (50~) Sevent - five Cents (75¢). Student tickets may also be issued to members o any go team representing colleges or junior colleges located in Chula Vista during the competition golf season only, provided further, that the Parks and Recreation Department is hereby authorized to waive greens fees for the opponents of local high school and college golf teams at regularly scheduled matches at the Chula Vista Municipal Golf Course. Gal.b Caunbe. SENIOR CITIZEN MONTHLY TICKET - RESIDENT The senior citizen monthly ticket charge is established as $12.00 $15.00. An age eligibility requirement must be met and certain restrictions are imposed to qualify for this special monthly rate. 1. The individual must be at least 62 years of age. 2. Play is restricted to weekdays only, holidays excluded. 3. No reserved tee-off times are permitted at the reduced senior citizen rate. LEGAL HOLIDAYS DEFINED For the purpose of this resolution, legal holidays are defined as follows: January 1, New Year's Day; February 12, Lincoln's Birthday; third Monday in February, Washington's Birthday; last Monday in May, Memorial Day; July 4, Independence Day; first Monday in September, Labor Day; Septembeh 9, Admiaaian Day; second Monday in October, Columbus Day; Novem er eterans'-TSay; fourth Thursday in November, Thanksgiving; and December 25, Christmas. PRIOR COMMITMENTS Any commitments made prior to July 1, 1974 concerning greens fees for tournaments or leagues will be honored. May 15, 1975, a motion was made, seconded and carried (with Commissioners Thompson and Ti.eber absent) to approve the recommendations of the Director of Parks and Recreation with regard to the revised policies and greens fee structures. It is also recommended that Resolution 117355 (as revised by the Director of Parks and Recreation) which reflects the 25G and SOG increases in golf course fees be approved with the exception of the Director's recommendation to change the monthly ticket system to quarterly tickets.
