[ 7 ] CHULA VISTA CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF: April 22, 1975 ITEM TITLE: Resolution - Declaring City's Intention to Vacate a Public Alley South of "F" Street, East of Second Avenue and Fixing Time and Place for Pu,~b,,lic/Hearing INITIATED BY: Director of Public Works/City Engineer /~J I/1 V BACKGROUND: c ~%/ The alley south of "F" Street, east of Second Avenue was conveyed to the City by quit claim deed on August 30, 1948. This alley does not function as a public alley but as a driveway to serve the multiple family development adjacent to the alley. Since it is dedicated as an alley, the City is obligated to maintain it. I believe, however, that since the alley serves essentially as a private driveway that its continued maintenance by the City is inappropriate. On March 26, 1975 the Planning Commission considered the proposed vacation and determined that this alley is no longer necessary for public use and recommended that it be vacated. All utility companies have been notified and they have requested reservations of easements for their existing facilities. Also, the City is reserving an easement for sewer purposes. A transparency is available for Council viewing. ATTACHED Resolution [ 1} Ordinance [ ] Agreement [ ] Plat [X] See EXHIBITS [X] No. 1,2 Financial Statement: N.A.
