The Honorable Thomas D. Hamilton
Mayor, City of Chula Vista
276 4th Avenue
Chula Vista, Ca. 92010
Dear Mayor Hamilton:
Attached is a copy of the proposed First Amendment to our
agreement for public transit service far FY 76. The
primary purpose of this amendment is to reflect the adjust-
ment in funding resulting from the distribution of the
Federal Operating Subsidy. The net result of this distri-
bution is to reduce our claim on your LTF movies by $59,317.
If Council should desire to reconsider the passible
extension of Route L into the Castle Park area we could
incorporate that change in this Amendment.
I will be happy to make myself available should Council
care to discuss the Route L extension or any other proposal.
Sincerely,
r~

FIRST AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT BETWEEN
CITY OF CHULA VISTA AND SAN DIEGO TRANSIT
CORPORATION FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SERVICES
1975 - 1976
Reason f.or Amendment
The original agreement for FY 76 service, as previously
approved, was subject to a reduction reflecting an eq-
uitable application of the newly available UMTA (Sec-
tion 5) operating support funds. A systemwide formula
was adopted by the Comprehensive Planning Organization
on September 15, 1975 which provides for a credit of
$0.24-0494 per mile to be applied to the gross cost per
mile of $1.553949. This credit is computed for the
number of estimated annual miles as of August 1, 1975,
and is subject to review and adjustments based on
actual miles operated at the conclusion of the contract
year.
In the event service is requested in addition to and
exceeding the original number of miles, it is under-
stood that there are no additional federal funds avail-
able this fiscal year for a credit on such excess
mileage.
The gross cost per mile has been established upon the
adoption of the FY 76 budget. This budget was amended
to reflect a reduction in operating costs of $554,824
and the elimination of the depreciation cost. It is
recognized that, if operating costs increase substan-
tially due to unforseen circumstances, the gross cost
per mile calculations may be revised and further amend-
ments to this agreement may be negotiated.
