NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby urge the League of California Cities to endorse and support the strongest possible legislation totally banning all nonreturnable beverage containers of any kind throughout the State of California as well as the sale of any cans having pull- top openers thereon. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council urges that such legislation contain no exceptions and that all containers in- cluding cans, regardless of the type of materials contained therein, be subjected to a significant deposit to stimulate return, and that all distributors be required to clearly encourage return and be re- quired to accept return of all such containers. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk of the City of Chula Vista be, and she is hereby directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to the League of California Cities, Senator Mills and Assemblyman Wadie Deddeh and to all members of the San Diego County Legislative Delegation.
