Approximately 200 land parcels were cited for sufficient uncultivated vegetation to be deemed a fire hazard and were posted with "Notice to Clean Premises" signs. The owners/agents were notified either personally or by mail and with the exception of the attached list of land parcels, abatement actions have been taken. Bids have been received from a private contractor to abate the fire hazards on the listed land parcels. City Code Section 8.32.050 provides that when the owner fails to take action it shall be the duty of the Fire Chief to cause the removal of such materials that create the fire hazard. Charges shall consists of cost plus 25% and shall be entered upon the real property tax assessment rolls and become a lien against the property. Financial Statement - Appropriation of $700,00 from the Unallocated Reserve of the General Fund is requested to perform the necessary work.
