In particular, there has been no option for businesses to advertise with logos on freeway rights of way. AB 445 and S.B. 326 introduced in the current session of the legislature proposed the formulation of sign controls which would produce aesthetically attractive commercial by permitting official business directional signs and sign plazas within the rights of way. Identification of businesses by signs within the freeway right of way has several advantages over the more common onsite signs: a. The skyline would be free of the tall freeway oriented signs so prevalent along highways today. b. Signs in the right of way can be located in advance of the off ramp to provide adequate notice to motorists. Assemblyman Deddeh~s office has reported that both AB 445 and SB 326 had been tabled for this session of the legislature. It is staff's belief that such legislation would provide an important option to the cities and to freeway oriented business and that the matter should be further pursued. tXl'iltfl I J 1-11 I Hl,l'ttU Agreement Resolution X Ordinance Plot Other Environmental Document: Attached Submitted on STAFF RECOMMENDATION: 1.
