RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF CHULA VISTA APPROPRIATING FUNDS FOR WEED
ABATEMENT AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO
ENTER ANY UNPAID ASSESSP~IENTS UPOYd THE REAL
PROPERTY TAX ASSESSMENT ROLLS TO BE COLLECTED
IN THE MANNER AND FORM PROVIDED FOR THE COLLECTION
OF OTHER CITY TAXES
The City Council of the City of Chula Vista does hereby
resolve as follows:
b4HEREAS, the City Council of the City of Chula Vista is
authorized by Section 1105 of the City Charter to amend or supplement
the annual city budget by the affirmative votes of at least four
members at any meeting after its adoption, and
WHEREAS, commencing in May, approximately 200 land
parcels were cited for having sufficient uncultivated vegetation
to be deemed a fire hazard and were posted with "Notice to Clean
Premises" signs, and
WHEREAS, the owners/agents were notified either
personally or by mail and with the exception of the list of land
parcels, attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein
by reference, abatement actions have been taken, and
WHEREAS, in the case of those owners/agents who have
failed to correct the violation, pursuant to Section 8.32.050 of
the City Code, a private contractor has been retained by the City
to undertake such correction, and
$700.00.
WHEREAS, the cost of such effort is approximately
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of
the City of Chula Vista that the sum of $700.00 be appropriated from
the unappropriated balance of the General Fund for the purpose
hereinabove set forth.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that pursuant to Section 8.32.060,
et.seq, of the City Code, an assessment shall be levied against the
property owners shown on Exhibit "A" and in the event of a failure
to pay said assessment, the City Clerk shall enter the assessment
upon the real property tax assessment rolls and the tax shall be
collected in the manner and form provided for the collection of
other city taxes.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Finance be
and he is hereby directed to record this Council action in the
accounting records of the City.
