ITEM TITLE: Resolutiong402 Granting a 30-day extension of contract to install
the traffic signal at East Orange Avenue/Melrose Avenue

ITEM EXPLANATION:
On July 6, 1976, the City Council adopted and approved Resolution No. 8246
awarding the contract £or construction of the traffic signals at East Orange
Avenue and Melrose Avenue to Select Electric. The construction was to be
completed within 120 calendar days following the commencement of work on
August 2, 1976. This schedule required the contractor to complete con-
struction by November 30, 1976.
Select Electric has requested a 30-day time extension due to delay in the
delivery of the traffic signal controller. The delay in delivery is a
justifiable reason to extend the contract and is due to a component parts
shortage which has been verified with the manufacturer, Automatic Signal
Division.
