COUNCIL AGENDA STATEMENT 11-2-76
FOR MEETING OF:
ITEM TITLE: Report on City-wide Tennis Court Lighting and Expansion of Chula Vista Tennis
Center Complex_ nd Obligation for Funding under the Public Works Employment Act of 1976
Resolution ~.96• Certifying Negative Declaration and Finding No Significant Impact Due
to City-wide Tennis Court Lighting and Expansion of Chula Vista Tennis Center Complex
SUBMITTED BY Director of Parks and Recreation
ITEM EXPLANATION:
At the September 15, 1976 adjourned regular meeting of the City Council, a written report
listing 9 projects for possible funding under the 1976 Local Public Works Employment Act
was submitted. Tennis court lighting improvements was included as Item No. 7.
Because of time constraints, this project will be limited to the tennis center complex
and the lighting of the Southwestern College tennis court facilities. In order to acti-
vate this project it will be necessary to modify our existing joint powers agreement with
Southwestern College on tennis courts (Resolution No. 6251 approved by Council on
November 2, 1971).
The architectural firm for this project was Richard John Lareau and Associates, and after
careful consideration staff felt that this expansion project would be better served by
using the same architectural scheme; it is therefore staff's recommendation that a reso-
lution be approved, retaining Mr. Richard John Lareau, A.I.A. for the preparation of the
preliminary plans.
