HomeMy WebLinkAboutAgenda Statement 1976/11/02 Item 03CITY OF CHULA VISTA ITEM N0. 3 COUNCIL AGENDA STATEMENT FOR MEETING OF:11/2 76 ITEM TITLE: Resolution - Accepting bids and awarding contract for No.8388 two (2) Trailer Mounted Air Compressors SUBMITTED BY Purchasing Agent ITEM EXPLANATION: Bids were received and opened at 2:00 p.m. on September 27, 1976 in the office of the Purchasing Agent for the purchase of two (2) trailer mounted air compressors for use by the Public Works Department. Specifications included trade-in of one (1) 1957 and one (1) 1959 air compressors. Atlas Copco XAS80 Hawthorne Rent-It- Service Gardner-Denver SP185DQ $6,960.00 $150.00 7,108.20 250.00 7,602.00 200.00 8,290.00 200.00 8,342.00 720.00 8,450.00 No Bid 9,975.00 500.00 Specifications required a rotary screw compressor which uses horsepower more efficiently than the older model rotary vane compressors. The sound level requirements were 85dBA at 1 meter which will apply to portable air compressors in January, 1978. The low bid, ?ngersoll Rand D160 does not meet these specifications. The unit bid is a rotary vane anit with dBA rating of 97 dBA at 1 meter. This unit is acceptable to the Public Works Department. Funds required for the purchase of the two (2) Joy Compressors are $14,216.40 plus $852.98 sales tax, less $250.00 for trade-in allowance, far a total of $14,819.38. The 76-77 budget provides $19,520.00 for the two units. FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Funds provided for in Account 100-1440-5568 and 100-1460-5568.
